Opportunity Overview:

This role is integral to the Diagnostic Imaging Services team, ensuring that quality service is delivered effectively, efficiently, and safely. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts and be on-call as necessary, primarily based at the South Health Campus with potential assignments at other facilities.

Role Responsibilities:

As an MRI Technologist I, your primary responsibility will be to generate and document magnetic resonance images for analysis by Radiologists or Cardiologists, aiding in the diagnosis and monitoring of medical conditions. You will ensure the production of high-quality diagnostic MRI images as requested by Physicians, prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, assess patient history, explain the imaging process, and address both the physical and emotional needs of patients during the scanning process. Additionally, you will be responsible for the upkeep of MRI equipment.

Required Qualifications:

A diploma from an accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program is required, or a certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program along with a diploma in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy. Candidates must be actively registered or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and possess current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates must maintain good standing and current registration or eligibility for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Proficiency in technical and computer skills is essential, along with strong organizational abilities and a sense of responsibility. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, accountability, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail. The ability to perform under pressure and in emergency situations is crucial. Knowledge of effective infection prevention and MRI safety protocols is necessary. Candidates should be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within teams, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrating courtesy and respect when interacting with patients, staff, and Physicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

Enhanced Practice in Medication Administration and Venipuncture through ACMDTT is preferred. Previous experience in Cardiac MRI is also advantageous.
