Job Title: Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Department Manager to join our team at Your Independent Grocer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the franchisee and bookkeeper in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a high-quality shopping experience.
  • Perform customer service, cashier, and e-commerce functions, including managing cash handling and resolving customer complaints.
  • Lead and manage direct reports, delegate tasks, and maintain front-end standards and functions.
  • Oversee the efficient operation of the cash office, including managing cash handling, deposits, and cash losses.
  • Analyze reports to identify problems and implement solutions, ensuring productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure price integrity by managing data, implementing price changes, and maintaining scan log procedures.
  • Support the bookkeeper with store administration functions, including accounting, invoicing, and payroll.
  • Manage potential loss through effective inventory management, test orders, and refund/override minimization.
  • Coordinate cashier activities, provide support, and troubleshoot issues while prioritizing business needs.

Requirements:

  • Availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays according to business needs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to superior customer service.
  • Strong technical knowledge of front-end operations.
  • Problem-solving skills, including responding to customer complaints and inquiries.
  • Issue management skills, including time management, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and active listening.
