Job Summary:

The Paint Supervisor at Heddle Shipyards is responsible for planning, prioritizing, and directing the work of the paint team. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure all work is completed on time and meets quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and implement project schedules for coating activities, ensuring timely completion and quality control.
  • Monitor and record weather and atmospheric conditions to inform coating activities.
  • Prepare and maintain project quality documents, inspection plans, and test procedures.
  • Conduct daily inspections of coating activities, monitoring overcoat windows and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain and control equipment used for coating work, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Manage paint supply inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal for the paint department, adhering to environmental regulations and company policies.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 5 years of professional experience in outdoor, all-season sandblasting and painting (e.g., airless spraying).
  • 2 years of professional experience supervising blast/paint crews.
  • Official designation of Coatings Inspector (Level 1) is an asset.
  • Marine experience is an asset.
