Position Title: Early Childhood Educator
Location: YMCA of Greater Vancouver
Terms: Full-time, Temporary (35 hours/week)
Shift: Monday to Friday, shifts 7:00am-6:00pm rotating shifts
Salary: $23.20 per hour for ECE License. Plus an additional $6 per hour for Licensed ECE's as per the Provincial Government's Wage Enhancement Initiative
Reports To: Team Leader, Child Care

Overview:

We are looking for a compassionate and innovative Early Childhood Educator to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. The educator will implement and lead activities tailored to the interests and developmental stages of the children in our care, utilizing the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care and engaging programming for children.
  • Foster meaningful and positive relationships with children and their families.
  • Collaborate with the team to establish a supportive and secure environment for staff and families.
  • Execute age-appropriate programs aligned with the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.
  • Ensure active supervision at all times and assist in smooth transitions between play areas.
  • Utilize our parent communication app to provide daily updates and communication.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in all program areas and common spaces.
  • Adhere to all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL), and legal requirements, including curriculum standards.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Basic ECE certification from a recognized program in British Columbia.
  • Infant Toddler Educator (ITE) License is an asset.
  • Special Needs Educator (SNE) certification is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Any training related to child growth and development is beneficial.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification required (can be obtained within 30 days of starting).
  • Three professional reference checks are mandatory.
  • Successful candidates must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search.
