Job Summary

GardaWorld is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tactical Security Guard to join our team at the Respite Shelter in Toronto. As a key member of our security team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and premises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain security protocols to prevent unauthorized access and ensure a secure environment.
  • Monitor and control access points, verifying the identity of individuals seeking respite services and ensuring compliance with shelter policies.
  • Conduct regular patrols to deter and detect security risks, utilizing surveillance systems to monitor key areas and respond promptly to any unusual activities.
  • Respond to calls for service, emergencies, or security incidents, following established protocols for various types of emergencies.
  • Provide assistance and support to shelter clients, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Administer first aid and emergency assistance as needed, coordinating with emergency services as required.
  • Operate video surveillance equipment and maintain accurate records of security incidents.
Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard license in accordance with local regulations.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (Standard C approved by WSIB).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with empathy and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis.
  • Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Tactical Security, with a strong background in law enforcement or a related field.
  • Any law-related educational degree, diploma, or certification is an asset.
  • Previous experience in handling vulnerable populations is an asset.
  • Physical fitness for regular patrols and emergency response.
