The Role:

As our team expands, we are seeking a Chemical Production Supervisor to design, develop, and evaluate chemical processes and equipment. This position will oversee the adoption of technologies and processes, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

You will also engage in research and development initiatives, collaborating closely with fellow engineers and industry professionals to innovate and enhance chemical manufacturing processes. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage production operations through synthesis.
  • Generate purchasing requests and monitor their progress.
  • Collaborate with procurement to source materials for product enhancement and development.
  • Conduct product synthesis.
  • Maintain and optimize formulations throughout batch production, qualification, and product release certification.
  • Control processes and operate plant/lab batch manufacturing.
  • Validate processes for environmental, health, and safety compliance, proposing necessary adjustments to align with updated local regulations.
  • Document manufacturing operations meticulously.
  • Plan and manage maintenance for production/mixing equipment.
  • Act as a reference point for new process implementations and improvements.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of formulation chemists, ensuring their competencies are recognized and developed through a structured assessment process.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a production supervisory role or a similar capacity.
  • Proficiency in using various manufacturing tools and equipment, including plant-scale reactors, filter presses, pumps, condensers, and scrubbers.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge and implementation of Quality Systems for ISO 1703.
  • Understanding of site safety rules and responsibilities.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with fluency in both written and spoken English and French.
