Job Summary

Melloy Industrial Services Inc is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and detailed estimates for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Construction
    • Review and analyze client documents, including drawings, specifications, and related documents, to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
    • Perform quantity, material, and labor takeoffs to determine project costs.
    • Collaborate with senior estimators to review and finalize estimates.
  • Estimating
    • Apply material unit prices or add material allowances to estimates as required.
    • Assist with bid document control, including the distribution of information to the estimating team and the archiving of documents.
    • Document all information related to the estimate and organize it for transfer to the project team upon successful award.
  • Project Management
    • Ensure that bid validity, escalation, and extra work terms meet project requirements for small scopes.
    • Perform bid-day assignments as directed by senior estimators.
    • Solicit pricing from trade contractors and suppliers under the supervision of senior estimators.
  • Customer Service
    • Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
    • Attend preliminary site visits with senior staff for mentoring and training.
Qualifications
  • A postsecondary diploma or degree in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
  • Some co-op or relevant experience in a construction environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the construction industry, including on-site experience or exposure to construction, is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a busy team environment.
  • Resourceful and self-motivated with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key partners and decision makers.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Strong computer skills, especially with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
