In this role, reporting to the Project Finance Director, the Project Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing, monitoring, analysis, and forecasting of project expenditures while providing essential job costing data to project management.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Project or Operations Management to identify and forecast financial risks.
• Coordinate with project staff and finance departments to generate financial reports.
• Review cost reports to ensure accurate tracking of budgets, actual costs, and contracts.
• Analyze monthly variances and standard costs.
• Monitor and assess productivity metrics.
• Assist in preparing quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for the project.
• Process month-end entries, including subcontract accruals and cost transfers.
• Generate monthly project cost reports detailing forecasted costs and variances.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to prepare monthly invoices for clients.
• Ensure complete invoicing of contracts with appropriate documentation.
• Serve as the primary contact for client audits.
• Analyze subcontract costs and enter client billings into the relevant systems.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
• Relevant experience and designation commensurate with the role.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience; pursuit of CPA designation or equivalent is advantageous.
• Background in construction or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with SAP, BPC, and Business Objects is a plus.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to influence without direct authority.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Creative thinking and adaptability to ambiguity.
• History of strong personal performance and contributions to business success.
• Demonstrated success in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
