Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our Complex Continuing Care Unit. As a member of our multidisciplinary patient care team, you will provide therapeutic recreation programs to patients requiring complex medical care, functional enhancement, or palliative care. Your goal will be to help patients return to their communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized recreation therapy plans to improve mental, physical, and socio-emotional functioning.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team to establish coordinated patient-focused goals and discharge plans.
  • Conduct individual assessments to identify leisure interests and attitudes, and provide programs to meet patient needs.
  • Maintain and enhance clinical skills through ongoing education and self-directed learning.
  • Base treatment and program plans on best practice guidelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in recreation therapy, preferably in a geriatric or rehabilitation setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with sound problem-solving skills and safe work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all team members.
  • Flexibility to meet changing department and service needs.
