Residential Support Worker

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and secure environment for our guests.
Key Responsibilities- Crisis Intervention and Support: Provide crisis intervention and support to guests, including those from the community, shelter, and other organizations.
- Community Engagement: Engage with and provide support to community meal guests, promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Reception and Security: Act as the after-hours reception for phone and front door inquiries, ensuring the security and safety of our guests and facilities.
- Program Coordination: Host and supervise scheduled amenities room activities for residents, promoting socialization and community building.
- Logistics and Administration: Accurately record day-to-day happenings, maintain logbooks, and complete incident reports, ensuring seamless communication and record-keeping.
- Collaboration and Partnership: Work in partnership with shelter staff to assist shelter guests in everyday situations, and with OP advisors to provide support to current and new participants.
- Calm and Composed: Possess a calm demeanor and ability to bring down the intensity of crisis situations.
- Relationship Building: Build rapport easily and quickly with everyone, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Adaptability and Teamwork: Demonstrate adaptability to change and frequent interruptions, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Education and Certifications: Possess a Grade 12 education or equivalent, and hold a valid Criminal Record Check, CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Training certifications (an asset).
