Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Route Driver to join our team at ApplianceSmart Contracting. As a Route Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a straight truck, maintaining professionalism at all times, and completing the route in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Interaction: Treat customers and their property with ultimate respect, consideration, and care by working in a safe manner and by leaving the work area at the customer's location clean.
  • Appliance Removal: Perform any and all work assignments relating to the removal of major household appliances (refrigerators, freezers) at customer homes.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Complete daily vehicle pre-trip inspection reports and report all unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete required paperwork as well as cleaning the truck bed and cab on a daily basis.
  • Equipment Management: Assume responsibility for company-issued tools and equipment.
  • Company Assets: Protect the company's assets from internal/external theft.
  • Training and Development: Participate in company-sponsored training programs.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma.
  • Experience: 1+ years of recent work experience driving a straight truck is a must.
  • Driving Record: Clean and insurable driving record.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of federal, provincial, and local transportation laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Previous Experience: Previous delivery experience, preferably related to moving household appliances or furniture, is a plus.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to grip, lift, stoop, bend, squat, and turn on a consistent, repetitive basis.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge and skills to use a handheld PDA and/or GPS.
