Job Summary:The Director - Software Quality Engineering will provide global leadership for the software quality assurance engineering team and certification team. This role requires extensive experience in Agile methodologies, a strategic mindset, and a hands-on approach to lead and mentor the QA team.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy that aligns with the company's objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of QA professionals, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee all aspects of QA including test planning, execution, and reporting.
- Ensure rigorous testing of software products to identify and resolve defects early in the development cycle.
- Implement and maintain QA metrics to monitor and improve the quality of software products.
- Champion Agile practices within the QA team and across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development, product management, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of QA processes in the Agile workflow.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
- Drive initiatives to automate testing processes, increase test coverage, and reduce cycle times.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate QA strategies, plans, and progress to senior management and stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on product quality, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is an asset.
- ~10+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- ~ Extensive experience with Agile methodologies.
- ~ Proven track record of successfully leading QA teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
- ~ Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, and QA best practices.
- ~ Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
- ~ Certification in Agile (e.g., Scrum Master, Agile Coach) is an asset.
- ~ Knowledgeable in regulatory standards and its processes for certification such as; Wi-Fi, Zwave, Zigbee, Cellular, UL/ULc is an asset.
- ~ Basic knowledge of analog and digital hardware, microcontrollers, microprocessors, and DSP processors. Product knowledge relating to security systems is an asset.
