Our Security Business

Our security business is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of intrusion and access video security products for both commercial and residential markets. With a team of 2,000 employees located in R&D engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and sales facilities in various countries, we have developed some of the world's most technologically advanced intrusion, video, access control, and real-time tracking solutions. The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Quality Director to lead our software quality assurance engineering team, quality team, and certification team. This position is based in Concord, ON, and will provide leadership for the development and implementation of all software engineering plans, as well as direct and manage software engineering resource allocation, schedules, and budget. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the next generation of smart buildings and the IoT space, as well as experience in leading a team of software developers and/or architects in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the quality test development and implementation of all software engineering plans
  • Direct and manage software engineering resource allocation, schedules, and budget
  • Develop and implement processes to enhance software quality and reduce defects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of product releases
  • Build and maintain a high-performing software engineering team
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement culture within the R&D team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent
  • 8-10 years of software development experience
  • At least 5 years of software team leadership experience
  • Strong leadership skills and proven expertise in creating an innovation culture
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the software development area
  • Self-motivated and able to problem-solve through analysis of a situation with various variables
  • Strong business acumen, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Strong proven leadership capabilities
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Methodologies or equivalent
  • Knowledge of intrusion security system environments is an asset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge in C/C++, Java, Perl, Linux, Android, JVM/JNI, Qt, TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of embedded web/HTTP, XML, VOIP, security, and encryption technologies, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Z-Wave, DECT, GSM(2G/3G/HSPA/LTE), CDMA
  • Exposure to development environment and tools: GNU, VMWareTM, IAR, Eclipse, etc.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills. Basic knowledge of analog and digital hardware, microcontrollers, microprocessors, and DSP processors. Product knowledge relating to security systems
