Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently producing heavy steel structures and large-scale assemblies in a fast-paced, constantly evolving, low-volume custom manufacturing setting. This role requires adaptability, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement safety protocols and training programs to promote a safe work environment.
  • Optimize production methods and ensure high-quality standards are met through extensive knowledge of welding techniques, machining processes, and large structure assembly.
  • Continuously assess and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize production costs.
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to develop and maintain quality standards and inspection procedures.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing issues and optimize processes.
  • Document manufacturing processes, including work instructions, equipment setups, and process specifications.
  • Conduct cost analyses to identify areas for cost reduction and process optimization while maintaining safety and product quality.
Requirements:
  • University or College degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Commitment to safety and a proven track record of promoting a safe work environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy steel structure welding, machining, and large structure assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of welding standards and techniques.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is essential. Experience with Visual Manufacturing is an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes is essential.
  • Application of Lean Manufacturing principles and knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies is essential. A Six Sigma green belt or higher is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
