Assistant Supervisor (RECE) - 7.5 hours per day at a base rate of $25.00 per hour, with potential for an additional $4.00/hr.

In the role of Assistant Child Care Supervisor, you will design and execute a child-focused program aligned with our Playing to Learn curriculum for ages 0-6 and the YMCA Place to Connect curriculum for ages 6-12. We are committed to your professional growth while enhancing the experiences of the children and families we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Allocate 50% of your time to administrative duties and 50% to program engagement.
  • Assist the supervisor in leading a team to create an inclusive environment that provides high-quality licensed child care.
  • Develop your team's skills through effective supervision and coaching.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, educators, and community partners through effective communication.
  • Foster a positive team culture that values reflection and goal setting.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality child care experiences that support children's exploration and inquiry.
  • Manage administrative tasks while adapting to the center's evolving needs.

Qualifications:

Registered Early Childhood Educator:

  • An Early Childhood Educator Diploma
  • Registration (or proof of registration in process) with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • 2-3 years of experience in a licensed child care environment with children aged 0-5 and 6-12 years

Early Child Care Educator:

  • Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Work, Education, Social Services, or related fields

General Requirements:

  • Experience in leading diverse teams to foster positive relationships with children and families
  • Strong skills in communication, coaching, and problem-solving
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification prior to starting
  • Up-to-date immunizations as required by Public Health
  • Ability to perform light to medium physical tasks, including lifting and bending
  • Willingness to work outdoors for at least one hour daily, regardless of weather conditions
  • Flexibility in work hours

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
