About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Concept Artist to join our team at Electronic Arts. As a Concept Artist, you will play a crucial role in creating a cast of believable characters and immersive game environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Art Director, Character Artists, and Environment Artists to develop original concepts that fit within the project style guide.
- Translate high-level ideas into production-ready art packets, ensuring a cohesive and engaging visual identity for our games.
- Maintain the art direction while providing a variety of ideas and explorations, pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
- Provide in-depth research, reference material, and develop conceptual ideas to support the development of our games.
- Work closely with the Art Director to create lighting schemes and color palettes that capture the tone of the world, elevating the overall visual experience.
- Report to the Art Director, ensuring open communication and a collaborative approach to achieving our artistic vision.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of concept artist experience, including at least 3 years in the gaming industry.
- Shipped video game titles, demonstrating a track record of successful project delivery.
- Ability to create concepts from scratch and develop color studies, showcasing a strong understanding of color theory and visual storytelling.
- Experience with creating concepts/explorations at different quality outputs, from sketches to final key art, ensuring a high level of detail and polish.
- Traditional illustration skills in multiple media and excellent drawing skills, with a strong foundation in matte painting.
- Fundamental skills including good use of line, light, shadow, and color, with a keen eye for detail and composition.
- Experience with storytelling and concept development, with a deep understanding of narrative structure and character development.
- Ability to work with specific styles, including a style set by another artist or art director, and mentor other concept artists to ensure a cohesive and high-quality artistic vision.
