About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Packaging Engineer to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods. As a key member of our Packaging Technology team, you will play a critical role in driving innovation and excellence in packaging design and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement packaging strategies that meet business objectives and drive growth.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative packaging solutions that meet customer needs and exceed expectations.
  • Collaborate with operations partners to optimize packaging processes and reduce costs.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure packaging components meet quality and efficiency standards.
  • Work with suppliers to develop and implement new packaging technologies and materials.
  • Develop and maintain packaging standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives to reduce packaging costs and improve efficiency.
  • Partner with marketing and product development teams to develop packaging concepts that meet business objectives.
Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering (Packaging) or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in food packaging or consumer goods packaging development technology.
  • Strong understanding of packaging components, supplier processes, manufacturing processes, and engineering change order (ECO) principles.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend creative solutions.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Proficient in SAP, CAPE, and Microsoft Office.
