Meridia Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Operations Manager to lead our maintenance shop team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our maintenance shop, overseeing the repair and maintenance of our fleet of trucks and trailers, and managing a team of mechanics and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of mechanics and technicians, assigning tasks based on priority and skill level.
- Train and mentor team members, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Oversee and participate in the diagnosis and repair of trucks and trailers, ensuring timely maintenance.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work meets company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform quality checks on completed work and address any issues promptly.
- Schedule and prioritize repair and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Coordinate with the General Manager for efficient workflow and resource allocation.
- Monitor and manage inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring they are ordered and stocked as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Promote and enforce a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and other departments regarding maintenance issues and repair status.
- Address and resolve concerns or complaints promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Prepare reports on shop activities, performance metrics, and any issues encountered.
- Assist in developing and updating maintenance policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in automotive or truck maintenance is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in truck maintenance and repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficient computer skills for maintaining records and reporting.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in the use of maintenance and repair tools and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development programs.
- A valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and machinery.
- Occasional outdoor work may be required.
- Candidate must be able to stand, walk, and work in various positions for extended periods.
