Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to join our team at Concordia Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of our facility, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our patients, residents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of trade staff, including electricians, plumbers, power engineers, and maintenance mechanics.
  • Assist the Director of Facility Management in planning and coordinating the operation, maintenance, and repair of all aspects of the physical infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure the efficient operation of our facilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of our facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, including the Manitoba Building Code, Manitoba Fire Code, and NFPA Codes.
Requirements
  • Five (5) years' experience in the supervision of trade staff in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in planning, directing, and controlling all aspects of facilities management, including mechanical, electrical, architectural, fire, and life safety.
  • Experience in directing all aspects of a Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Acceptable training and experience in the ongoing operation and maintenance of a large facility, preferably healthcare.
  • Experience in project management.
Education and Certification
  • A valid Manitoba or Inter-provincial 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate, Manitoba Journeyman Trade Certificate, or Diploma from an accredited engineering technology program.
  • Additional management courses would be an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team to establish best practices within budgetary constraints.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic budget formulation and control.
  • Demonstrated leadership in fostering an open and respectful work environment.
  • Demonstrated independent and collaborative decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of various current and related software applications, including computerized maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of the safe and proper methods of operating/maintaining mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems in a large facility.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and administration of Collective Agreements.
  • Knowledge of applications in the workplace, including the Personal Health Information Act, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
