Job Title: Ophthalmology Technician

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Ophthalmology Technician to join our team at McMaster Children's Hospital. As a key member of our ophthalmology clinic, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists and orthoptists.

Job Summary

The Ophthalmology Technician will be responsible for performing various vision tests, providing patient education, and maintaining ophthalmology equipment. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care and excellent outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform independent testing of clients for various vision tests
  • Provide appropriate supervision and maintenance of ophthalmology equipment
  • Support several ophthalmologists and orthoptists in the ophthalmology clinic
  • Assist with minor procedures related to the eye clinic
  • Provide patient education and support
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
Requirements
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certificate from an accredited academic institution
  • International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification preferred
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate
  • Previous experience in an ophthalmologist office or hospital setting as an Ophthalmic Technician or Orthoptist
  • Experience working with pediatric population
  • Demonstrated experience and competence with various ophthalmology equipment
  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
