Job Summary

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmology Technician to join our team at McMaster Children's Hospital. As a key member of our ophthalmology clinic, you will play a vital role in providing fast-paced ophthalmic care to pediatric and subspecialty neonatal clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform independent testing of clients for various vision tests
  • Provide appropriate supervision and maintenance of ophthalmology equipment
  • Support several ophthalmologists and orthoptists in the clinic
  • Assist in minor procedures related to the eye clinic
  • Provide patient education and promote a safe work environment
Requirements
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certificate from an accredited academic institution
  • International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification preferred
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate
  • Previous experience in an ophthalmologist office or hospital setting as an Ophthalmic Technician or Orthoptist
  • Demonstrated experience and competence with various ophthalmology equipment
  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
