BDO's Capital Advisory team is seeking an Experienced Associate to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for participating in a range of advisory capital raising assignments, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day execution and delivery of service on projects.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite, structure, and document credit requests, analyzing complex customer financial, organizational, and credit information.
- Conduct market and industry research, detailed financial analysis, and business valuations to identify relevant business, market, and other commercial risks.
- Make recommendations to approve or decline transactions based on credit quality, business risk, and market needs.
- Support senior colleagues in debt advisory transaction-related activities, including handling internal transaction/client take-on process, reviewing and analyzing new transaction material and due diligence reports, and preparing financing models.
- Operate in a regulated environment, adhering to all regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Ensure quality of client deliverables by having a strong attention to detail.
- Be entrepreneurial in nature to drive growth and practice management in our growing team.

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or related field.
- CA or CPA certification is preferred but not a requirement.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience at a bank, credit fund, or reputable advisory firm with demonstrable debt structuring and transaction experience.
- Excellent financial modeling skills in Excel, with a good foundation of building and working with operational and/or finance models.
- Understanding and ability to determine appropriate capital structures for a given scenario.
- Ability to review and critically assess transaction materials.
- Strong analytical and credit analysis skills.
- Sound understanding of, and ability to analyze, key accounting statements.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that help represent diverse communities.
- Experience in working with diverse teams.
