Key Responsibilities- Menu Planning and Preparation: Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of our students, taking into account dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Kitchen Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain a stock rotation system to minimize waste.
- Food Safety and Quality: Ensure that all food is prepared and served in a safe and sanitary environment, meeting or exceeding all relevant health and safety standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Communication and Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors, responding to feedback and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Education and Certification: Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a current Interprovincial Red Seal Certification (Cook).
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success in menu planning, kitchen operations, and team leadership.
- Skills and Abilities: Proven ability to use Microsoft Office programs, internet, and internet-based programs; ability to determine, judge, and select appropriate courses of action in accordance with established policies and procedures; understanding and awareness of cultural diversity; ability to multi-task, prioritize, self-motivate, and meet deadlines; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to provide service and relationship to the public and School District in a professional, respectful, positive, and courteous manner.
The Executive Chef will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with frequent exposure to heat, noise, and physical demands. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer service.
