Position Overview
As a Plumber, you will play a crucial role in a cooperative team focused on providing exceptional services to our clients and customers.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, plus on-call responsibilities.
Internal applications for this position within the UFCW bargaining unit must be submitted within 7 days of this position being posted to have seniority considered.
Utilizing approved techniques, your assigned tasks will support maintenance operations throughout the facility, which may include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain the water distribution system, including all associated valves and insulation.
- Install, maintain, and repair piping systems and plumbing fixtures (toilets, sinks, and faucets).
- Oversee sewer systems (sanitary, storm, vents, roof drains, and stacks).
- Service, repair, and conduct preventive maintenance on designated equipment following standard practices and departmental policies.
- Assess installation requirements by reviewing blueprints and work sketches.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and/or roofs or remote installations as necessary.
- Operate various equipment and tools, including power construction equipment, measuring devices, and both power and hand tools.
- Assist with annual inspections, servicing, and installation of backflow prevention devices.
- Provide backup support to HVAC technicians.
- Document work orders and generate necessary technical service reports.
- Coordinate with external service providers and contractors to arrange and supervise new or repair work.
- Ensure compliance of all external trades with regulatory codes, organizational policies, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with plumbing inspectors and other regulatory officials.
- Exercise sound judgment in making decisions and recommendations that affect operational and departmental costs.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a licensed plumber in Ontario, with comprehensive knowledge of water distribution systems, plumbing fixtures, and sewer systems.
- Familiarity with provincial plumbing codes and local regulations.
- Strong numerical and spatial reasoning skills.
- Technical proficiency in working with Automated Building Control systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proven track record of good work and attendance.
