About the Role

The Business Planning Analyst (BPA) plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance team at Bumble Bee Foods, LLC. This position is responsible for conducting evaluations of current manufacturing processes to assist management in executing the operating plan efficiently.

The BPA works closely with all departments, documenting findings and providing clear explanations to the business. Under the guidance of the Controller, the BPA serves as a multi-functional support to the Finance team by assisting with various tasks, including:

Business Analysis
  • Performing various cost analyses of processes and cost centers to evaluate business impact
  • Preparing weekly production cost analysis (KPIs)
  • Assisting in preparing forward-looking standard costs
Month-End Close
  • Assisting the Controller in ensuring timely financial close deadlines
  • Preparing applicable month-end journal entries in a timely and accurate manner for CLSC and CBMC
  • Updating month-end schedules required for balance sheet analysis comparing results versus prior quarter (PQ), year-end (YE), and prior year (PY)
  • Preparing monthly income statement and gross profit schedules
  • Overseeing the administration of the company hourly and salaried pension plan, and related reconciliations
Corporate Finance
  • Preparing cash requirement forecasts
  • Validating fixed assets, including construction in progress, capital expenditure additions, retirements, and requests for capital expenditures
  • Reviewing Balance Sheet files and submitting to the Canadian Corporate office
Audit
  • Assisting in assembling supporting documents for regularly scheduled internal/external audits throughout the year under the guidance of the Controller

Requirements:

  • A related university accounting or finance degree
  • Experience in costing is an asset
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP ECC 6.0, and MS Office Suite primarily Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in business planning and general accounting duties
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all disciplines and levels of management to achieve company goals
  • A 'people person' proven to be results-oriented, possess attention to detail skills, a proven ability to handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational abilities with effective time management skills
  • Easily and willingly adapts to change
  • Ability to determine cause of issues and propose acceptable solutions
  • Work well under pressure and meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively remotely
  • Must be highly skilled in collaborating with internal and external individuals at every level within an organization
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle complexity and ambiguity
