DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pharmacy Technician at Lakeridge Health plays a vital role in delivering pharmaceutical services to patients undergoing oncology treatment. Responsibilities include: accurately preparing sterile doses of antineoplastic medications; formulating various dosage forms for oncology patient care; dispensing medications for clinical trials as necessary, as well as outpatient prescriptions through the retail pharmacy; assisting in the procurement of drugs for both the chemotherapy pharmacy and retail pharmacy, which involves maintaining appropriate stock levels and conducting inventory checks; aiding patients in obtaining medication coverage and accessing compassionate care drugs; and performing additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT);
* Completion of a CCAPP (Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs) accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program;
* A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital environment, particularly in sterile compounding, is required;
* Recent experience in the preparation and safe handling of chemotherapy drugs is preferred;
* Familiarity with Epic software is an asset;
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel;
* Strong keyboarding skills;
* Experience with Kroll software and understanding of third-party prescription billing is advantageous;
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential;
* Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively;
* Ability to exercise independent judgment and assess situations and challenges efficiently;

* A satisfactory performance record is required;
* Understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety protocols and participation in regular in-service training sessions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The employment terms are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.
Successful external candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the last six months.
