About the Opportunity

Northern Employment Solutions Inc is seeking a highly skilled Construction Supervisor to join our team at a Canadian mining site. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing project contractors, ensuring operational standards are met, and contributing to strategic plans and constructability reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage project contractors by monitoring and controlling performance
  • Meet operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and constructability reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements
  • Meet project budgets and timelines by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions
  • Accomplish construction project results by contributing to project scope definition; estimating; enforcing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating contractor works; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders
  • Prevent orders and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, the various regulations and codes
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
  • Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in civil engineering technology preferred; considerable experience in related field will be considered in lieu of formal education
  • 5+ years' experience in managing the execution of small to medium size projects
  • Knowledge of project management techniques (i.e., critical path method, progress measurement and earned value technique) and experience in estimation, cost monitoring, analyzing and reporting is an asset
  • A Carpenter trades background will be considered an asset
  • Good organizational skills are required with attention to details
  • Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines
  • Working knowledge of regular financial and procurement processes, preferably in construction or engineering projects is an asset
  • Solid report writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety
  • Sound interpersonal and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of employees
  • Knowledge of Ontario OH&S Act & Regulations is considered an asset
  • Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset
