Job Title: Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow to join our team at the University of British Columbia. The successful candidate will have a PhD in any engineering discipline and experience teaching in a post-secondary context.

Job Summary:

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of British Columbia is looking for a candidate to fill a two-year full-time Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow position. The successful candidate will take on a leading role in the design, implementation, and assessment of a transformational pedagogical strategy for Engineering curricula.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design activities and develop EDII and sustainability modules for existing courses.
  • Review the pedagogy and redesign and/or develop content for two large scale Professional Practice courses in engineering.
  • Perform literature reviews on EDII and sustainability teaching and assessment in engineering to determine leading-edge practices.
  • Design rigorous evaluation strategies for EDII and sustainability learning in engineering.
  • Oversee data collection and analysis to evaluate the developed content and pedagogies.
  • Organize and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data using software tools.
  • Write literature for publication in engineering education related conferences, journals, and/or workshops.
  • Attend and present at conferences related to engineering education.
Requirements:
  • A PhD in any engineering discipline (including engineering education), completed within the last 5 years.
  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary context (e.g. as instructor or teaching assistant).
  • Knowledge of and commitment to EDI, indigeneity/decolonization, and sustainability, preferably in an engineering context.
  • Interest in a career path in post-secondary teaching and learning within engineering (such as the Educational Leadership stream at UBC).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing curricular content.
  • Experience creating and applying innovative pedagogies.
  • Knowledge of supporting literature in the areas of interest.
