Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team in a Transitional Housing setting. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with residents to support their personal development, life skills, and social and spiritual growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to residents in a residential setting, promoting their independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Develop and implement personalized plans to address residents' needs, goals, and challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure residents receive comprehensive support services.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to monitor residents' progress and adjust support plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of resident interactions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 months of focused experience working in a residential setting.
  • Current Certification in First Aid/CPR.
  • Training/Certification in Addictions and/or Mental Health issues or willingness to be trained.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or willingness to be trained.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • FOODSAFE Level 1 Certification or willingness to be trained.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Computer skills and training in Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a dynamic and fast-paced residential setting.
  • May be subject to hazardous or disagreeable conditions in the performance of duties.

Other Conditions / Requirements:

  • Successful obtainment of the Criminal Record Review Act clearance to work with vulnerable adults.
  • Successful obtainment of clearance through The Salvation Army Child Abuse Registry.
