Position Overview:
Vancouver Island University's Faculty of Social Sciences is seeking applications for a temporary instructor role within the Anthropology Department. We are looking for a qualified individual to deliver one or more undergraduate courses, emphasizing effective teaching methodologies and student engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and presentation of lectures.
- Assessment and evaluation of student performance.
- Facilitation of student learning experiences.
- Provision of academic support during designated office hours.
The courses will be conducted in a face-to-face format, with the possibility of online or blended delivery options available as needed. The following courses are part of the teaching responsibilities:
- ANTH 110 - Developing Intercultural Competence
- ANTH 112 - Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology
- ANTH 334 - Anthropology of Ritual & Belief
Future Teaching Opportunities:
In addition to the fall semester, there may be opportunities to teach in the subsequent spring semester, including courses such as:

Qualifications Required:
- A doctoral degree in Anthropology from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching.
- Ability to address diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Strong collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in educational technology and learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in face-to-face undergraduate instruction.
- Background in teaching small, inclusive classes.
