Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst / Project Controller plays a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of projects. This position collaborates closely with project and district leadership to deliver a holistic financial perspective. Key duties encompass assessing project expenditures, generating reports, and conducting data analysis for management, as well as overseeing budget management, forecasting, and implementing internal controls. This role has the potential to transition into an Assistant Project Controller position, which entails similar responsibilities but focuses on a project valued up to 500 M$.

District Overview:

The East Canada district encompasses a variety of projects, including highways, bridges, public transportation systems, mining site development, open-pit mining operations, hydroelectric facilities, wind energy projects, dams, and industrial structures. This district serves the construction and mining sectors in East Canada.

Work Location:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate financial forecasts using both historical and projected data, ensuring compliance with company standards for cost and revenue reporting.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business to effectively convey financial reports and data.
  • Assist the operations team in decision-making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities.
  • Manage project timelines, clearly communicating expectations and objectives to stakeholders for the timely delivery of quality information.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, serving as the primary resource for internal or external financial audits.
  • Encourage continuous improvement and advocate for positive organizational changes.
  • Build trust and ensure process credibility and adoption by the operations team to enhance collaboration and communication within the organization.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service skills; demonstrate a willingness to assist and maintain a positive attitude to meet needs and accept help graciously.
  • Functional English proficiency (both written and verbal) is beneficial for mobility across Canadian provinces. Training may be provided if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in business administration, accounting, or cost control.
  • A degree or bachelor’s in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with SAP is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication (oral and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and standards.
  • Willingness to travel as required for this position.
