Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician

Brandt is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at our Hearst Construction & Forestry location.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry-based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the working condition of equipment, diagnose issues, and perform repairs and maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems to complete tasks.
  • Accurately document work orders, including machine information, actions taken, and time spent.
  • Assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
  • Locate and order parts from parts personnel using parts catalogues.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.
Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
  • Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
  • Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A commitment to high-quality customer service with a strong people orientation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
