About the Role

Located in Calgary, the individual in the Senior Financial Analyst role will report to the Supervisor, Financial Operations. The Senior Financial Analyst will oversee the financial operations function for the Inter Pipeline Business Unit. The individual will mentor and lead financial analysts and manage the area of financial reporting which includes financial analysis and budgeting for the company's operations across North America and analyze the financial performance results. This role also supports business initiatives such as the development of financial models, financial annual budgeting efforts and is responsible for financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial operations function with overall accountability for the financial analysis and budgeting of the company's operations.
  • Mentor the financial analysts and ensure financial reporting is accurate & complete and all month end processes are completed under established financial reporting deadlines.
  • Review and approve financial transactions and provide accurate accounting of financial data.
  • Review financial account reconciliations including recommendations to address reconciling items.
  • Lead the development of financial models in SAP ERP system.
  • Lead and develop SAP configuration changes with IT for financial operations process.
  • Responsible for the analysis of financial costs and variances associated with company operations.
  • Lead the financial annual budgeting and financial reporting updates.
  • Develop financial models for business initiatives and proactively provide guidance on risks and opportunities to enhance financial performance.
  • Presentation of monthly financial performance results to leadership team.
  • Review and test the adequacy of the financial reporting system.
  • Perform and report on results of periodic audits of financial data.
  • Develop more efficient and accurate financial reporting.
  • Responsible for the accurate accounting of financial transactions and work closely with other business units to ensure elimination of entries.

Requirements:

  • CPA Designation required with six to eight years of applicable industry experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in accounting under IFRS.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with complex financial contracts.
  • Ability to set and meet challenging deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Effective team player that can manage internal and external relationships with interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
