Job Title: Executive Director - Strategic Leader

The Salvation Army Fort St. John is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director - Strategic Leader to provide strategic leadership to large ministry units, overseeing business and program-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning with senior management to secure necessary approvals from the Divisional Management Committee.
  • Financial Management: Direct and oversee the annual budgeting process for the ministry unit, ensuring effective financial management and reporting.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee family services and thrift store operations in Dawson Creek, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Human Resources: Direct and indirect supervision of supervisory staff and non-supervisory staff reporting to a supervisory subordinate, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate implementation of Territorial standards and best practices, reflecting the economic, service, and business environment, and promote positive working relationships/partnerships and communications with funders and community stakeholders.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Analyze statistical and financial reports for strategic planning and reporting to the Divisional Management Committee.
  • Spiritual Leadership: Ensure a spiritual dynamic to all programming, and serve as the lead member of the management team for The Salvation Army Fort St. John Community Ministries and Northern Centre of Hope.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Education: Completed an Undergraduate University degree, preferably B.A., B.Sc., or B.Sc.N.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of prior related experience, including supervisory and budget management experience in a not-for-profit social services environment.
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills, including strategic planning, program development, and evaluation.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) to relate easily to a diverse team of staff and clients.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial acumen in analyzing and reporting on business/financial health and risks.
  • Operational Management: Operational and service management skills to set clear standards and practices to deliver quality care and service.
  • Community Engagement: Proven ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with community-based organizations.
Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm, 40 hours per week.
