Position Overview:
Yukon University is in search of a committed individual to oversee and direct our University Bookstore on a temporary basis, as the position is currently under evaluation. Reporting to the Interim Director of Hospitality Services, this role is tasked with developing, executing, and managing a detailed business strategy that guarantees the successful operation of the bookstore. Key responsibilities encompass supervising personnel and daily activities, managing procurement, marketing, and sales, overseeing stock levels, and ensuring the budget aligns with revenue and expenditure goals. This position also includes providing cashier services for various University departments as required.
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience, ideally in a retail setting.
- Background in retail, including inventory control and order management systems, procurement, and point of sale systems.
- Strong understanding of retail sales techniques, promotional tactics, display strategies, marketing, and sales oversight.
- Experience in e-commerce and website catalog management is considered beneficial.
- Familiarity with fundamental accounting practices.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Post-secondary education in Business is advantageous.
