Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Medical Consultant specializing in Gastroenterology to become part of our Medical Affairs division. This role encompasses a national scope and is based out of our headquarters.

In the capacity of Medical Consultant, you will deliver medical and scientific expertise to the clinical research team and collaborate on clinical operational initiatives. The Medical Consultant is responsible for formulating strategic plans that align with the brand objectives and works closely with various departments within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate a medical strategy in collaboration with the brand team and implement it as outlined in the brand objectives.
  • Assist in evaluating clinical study feasibility, site identification, and engagement, while providing support to resolve any outstanding issues with study sites.
  • Assess new clinical study protocols and investigator-initiated research proposals.
  • Engage with local commercial teams, global project groups, investigators, and external experts through regular updates on ongoing initiatives and tactical execution of plans.
  • Provide scientific and medical guidance for ongoing projects.
  • Review and analyze scientific literature related to Allergan products and competitors.
  • Act as a scientific affairs authority for the product line.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Medical Division and commercial teams regarding relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards in all studies conducted.
  • Effectively manage resources to ensure that all projects are executed within approved budgets and deliver expected outcomes.
  • Support the integration of new products into Allergan's offerings.
  • Lead the evidence generation strategy based on identified data needs.
Qualifications
  • A Doctorate, MD, or PharmD is required.
  • Relevant experience with a solid understanding of the biotech/pharmaceutical sector.
  • General knowledge of drug development and clinical research in a pertinent therapeutic area (minimum of three to five years).
  • Experience in the relevant therapeutic area (minimum of two to three years).
  • Prior scientific experience in a client-facing role within the healthcare sector.
  • Ability to create and deliver high-quality presentations and interpret scientific or clinical research publications.
  • Strategic thinking and planning capabilities (work plans, activities, timelines, targeting) with a focus on execution excellence.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical landscape and the role of Medical Affairs in advancing the medical and scientific goals of a pharmaceutical organization.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of drug development and local regulations, including promotional material regulations.

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Comfortable with technology and utilizing various tools/systems for daily tasks.
  • Willingness to travel at least 20-30% of the time.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and passport.
