About the Job
The Network Engineer reports to the Corporate Network Manager and has a comprehensive view of the interactions between the different elements of the technology. This person develops problem-solving skills and demonstrates increasing creativity in addressing difficult situations. They also improve their skills in customer relations and may act as a reference for less experienced administrators in some cases. They put their skills into practice in terms of documentation, operational activities, deliveries/tracking, and procedure development.
- Recommend and/or implement improvements (software and hardware updates) to optimize performance and reliability.
- Perform daily activities, upgrades, and scheduled maintenance according to the company's standards and deadlines.
- Plan, participate in, and/or assist in the installation of various systems and their maintenance.
- Develop clear and accurate documentation related to different projects, strategies, and initiatives.
- Participate in the integration and implementation of technical solutions.
- Detect problems, evaluate resolution time, prioritize them, and ensure they are resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
- Write and/or update documentation related to operational procedures and configuration.
- Manage established security standards for different technologies.
- Ensure the tracking of incident and problem tickets, follow up on existing problems, analyze them, search for solutions, and apply the necessary corrections.
- Perform configurations according to modification and addition requests.
- Develop analysis and maintenance reports for equipment and keep all related tools up to date.
Requirements
- University degree in computer science and 4-9 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in software: MS Office, etc.
- Bilingual (English and French) spoken and written.
- May be required to provide remote support (available 24/7).
- CISCO IOS.
- Dynamic routing (OSPF and BGP).
- Virtual network (VLAN and VRF).
- Site-to-site and client-distance VPN.
- DNS.
- DHCP.
- AAA authentication (Tacacs+/Radius).
- Cisco environments (router, switch, firewall, load balancer).
- Protocols (Ethernet, ATM, Sonet, TDM).
- Wireless network technologies.
- Wireshark.
- Splunk.
