Job Summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team in the Major Projects Branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing leadership, support, and technical direction to our project staff in the delivery of our major capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise, guidance, and supervision to internal and external project staff, including professional engineers and other technical staff.
  • Manage, plan, coordinate, and provide financial accountability for the major projects capital portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse work groups and contacts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, including the Highway Traffic Act, Highway Protection Act, Highways and Transportation Act, and the Workplace Health & Safety Act.
  • Stay up-to-date with current construction principles and methodology, construction specifications, and guidelines as they pertain to our business.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and integrate relevant information to determine appropriate course of action/outcomes.
  • Organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba (EGM).
  • Appropriate scope-of-practice in linear infrastructure, such as highways, water-related infrastructure, and/or bridges.
  • Extensive experience in project management, including design and construction, contract management, and managing interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent consultation, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Strong planning, research, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Office Suite.
  • Desirable: Proficiency with project management software.

Working Conditions

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of working on construction sites.
