Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in acute and complex medical programs to assess and treat neurological patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong cognitive and perceptual assessment and treatment skills, with experience working with patients in an acute inpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat neurological patients to progress them through their care plan
  • Collaborate with a physiotherapist, occupational therapy assistant/physiotherapy assistant, and multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet patient needs
  • Conduct cognitive and perceptual assessments to inform treatment decisions
  • Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on cognitive remediation and compensatory strategies
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes
Requirements
  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Member of the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists preferred
  • Experience working with neurological conditions required
  • Cognitive and perceptual assessment and treatment skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities with proven time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members
