Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Halton Healthcare. As a critical care specialist, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining life support equipment, as well as performing diagnostic testing and providing patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain life support equipment, including ventilators and anaesthetic gas machines
  • Perform diagnostic testing, including spirometry and arterial blood gases
  • Initiate, monitor, and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed
  • Respond to cardiac arrest codes and high-risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation
  • Perform intubation as ordered by physicians
  • Teach patients and staff as required
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities
  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements
  • Assist with departmental policy and procedure development and review
Qualifications
  • Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Three years of experience in critical care, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) and ACLS certification
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to establish positive and supportive relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of the critical care team
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory attendance and employment record
Working Conditions

This is a dual-site position requiring shift coverage at both our Oakville and Georgetown hospitals. Milton coverage is optional. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.
