Youth Justice Program Supervisor

As a key member of the Youth Justice Congregate Care Program, the Supervisor plays a vital role in delivering services to young males aged 12 to 18 involved in the Youth Criminal Justice System. This full-time position involves close collaboration with the Program Supervisor to ensure effective management and operational excellence within the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Support staff in evaluating and addressing the mental health needs of clients through a trauma-informed approach.
- Oversee and guide staff in the provision of therapeutic programming and interventions.
- Conduct regular supervision and identify professional development opportunities for team members.
- Facilitate effective communication systems to relay client and program information.
- Supervise the development and execution of life skills and recreational programs for youth.
- Monitor staff utilization in accordance with budgetary guidelines and ensure timely payroll submissions.
- Manage petty cash reconciliation processes.
- Ensure responsible oversight of the program's financial resources and assets.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and audits of client records to maintain data accuracy.
- Uphold client record maintenance in compliance with agency standards and privacy regulations.
- Assist in maintaining documentation related to licensing requirements and communicate updates to management.
- Lead team meetings as necessary.
- Provide on-call support in collaboration with other management personnel.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., MSW, BSW, CYC Worker) or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years working with children and youth in a congregate care environment.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in youth justice programs for a minimum of 2 years.
- Demonstrated relational and strengths-based care philosophy.
- Knowledge of best practices in therapeutic interventions and programming.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach staff.
- Experience addressing the challenges faced by at-risk youth.
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial accountability.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and licensing standards.
- Knowledge of programming best practices for children and youth.
- Established community resource connections and networking experience.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and sound judgment in challenging situations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Capacity to ensure a safe and well-maintained physical environment.
- Willingness to participate in the on-call rotation for congregate care programs.
- Sensitivity to diverse staff and client populations.
- Proficient in computer skills and report writing.
- Valid First Aid/CPR and UMAB certifications.
