As a skilled Construction Scheduler, you will be instrumental in the formulation and upkeep of project timelines, adhering to company and district standards. Your expertise in analyzing and tracking the project's critical path will enable you to generate insightful reports, propose alternative strategies, and facilitate the successful completion of projects.

District Overview

The Eastern Canada District is engaged in diverse projects, including highways, bridges, mass transit systems, mine site development, hydroelectric facilities, wind-power installations, dams, and industrial operations, catering to the construction and mining sectors.

Location

This role is based out of our office in Quebec.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, designers, estimators, procurement teams, construction managers, contractors, and other project services personnel to ensure comprehensive planning and scheduling from initial concept through to construction.
  • Create resource-loaded schedules that include activity lists, key milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items, and other essential project deliverables.
  • Establish schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations, and assess available manpower and resources.
  • Evaluate the effects of design modifications and schedule delays, keeping management and clients informed of all schedule changes.
  • Utilize your knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology to develop and maintain critical path logic networks, while leveraging historical data for future planning and forecasting.
  • Provide specialized guidance and support for resolving complex project control issues, including time impact analysis, and engage with clients through regular meetings and statistical reporting.
  • Prepare standard progress reports for each assigned project.
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Monitor project status and promptly report any schedule variations.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and review of discipline and project schedules.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all schedule submissions and related information to facilitate any requests for time adjustments.
  • Coordinate with the project team to create revision or recovery schedules as necessary.
  • Draft written narratives for all schedule submissions.
  • Track contract document requirements to ensure schedule compliance, including change orders and amendments.
  • Analyze performance curve data and forecast productivity, providing manpower information for future projections.
  • Assist in the creation of bid schedules as per client specifications.
  • Engage with clients, owners, and representatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction scheduling, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing scheduling functions.
  • Advanced understanding of construction engineering technology, codes, and standards, along with a comprehensive grasp of the interrelationships among various functional units.
  • Familiarity with standard cost control methods applicable to various project types (EPC, Joint Venture, Lump Sum, Time and Material, Maintenance).
  • Proficient in project controls software, including Excel and Primavera (P6), as well as other company-specific applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering is preferred; relevant technical training or experience will also be considered.
  • Functional knowledge of English (both written and verbal) is advantageous, as mobility across provinces may be required.
