Overview

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Service Engineer is responsible for operating a service vehicle to perform daily maintenance tasks, execute warranty repairs, troubleshoot equipment performance issues, and conduct overhauls on natural gas machinery, including engines, compressors, and power generation systems at various customer locations.

We are looking for a candidate who embodies integrity and is committed to utilizing creativity and dedication to propel our organization forward. This position is based in Grande Prairie, AB.

Key Responsibilities

Execute all tasks safely and in compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies. Work on medium to large stationary natural gas systems, including engines, compressors, pumps, valves, and related equipment. Travel to customer sites across Alberta by plane or vehicle to perform comprehensive preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls. Complete repairs and overhauls within established timeframes. Diagnose machinery malfunctions with precision and detail-oriented troubleshooting skills. Collaborate with a team to install and commission new equipment packages. Work with the Service Manager to develop repair strategies and provide accurate customer quotes. Mentor apprentices and assist fellow technicians through knowledge sharing. Build and maintain positive professional relationships with internal and external clients. Engage in training opportunities for professional growth and development. Be available for on-call duties as required.

Required Qualifications

At least 3 years of experience in field service roles. Valid certification as a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic, Natural Gas Compression Technician, Automotive Technician, or Millwright. A valid driver's license with the capability and willingness to travel long distances. Comprehensive knowledge of engine, generator, and compressor operations; experience with brands such as Arial, Jenbacher, Waukesha, and Cat is advantageous. Experience with high voltage, non-diesel generators, automation controls, or PLC systems is a plus. Proficiency in computer technology; familiarity with SAP is beneficial. A self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A clean driving record is required upon hiring.
