Position: Managing Director, Procurement

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice-President, Operations, the Managing Director (MD), Procurement will play a pivotal role in shaping CAPREIT's procurement strategy. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of purchasing across our diverse portfolio of properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive national procurement strategy that ensures competitive, ethical, and transparent sourcing practices from qualified vendors.
  • Establish clear purchasing policies and oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, ensuring adherence to established approval processes based on the nature of goods or services required.
  • Maintain accountability for corporate procurement controls and collaborate closely with Insurance, Compliance, and Audit departments as needed.
  • Lead and mentor a team of over 35 procurement professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration through best-in-class management practices.
  • Leverage software tools such as Capex tracker and Dashboards to effectively manage project milestones and drive future software initiatives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities across various categories, including equipment, major capital projects, building services agreements, and property services.
  • Develop insightful reporting, tracking mechanisms, and analysis to support data-driven decision-making and transparency.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of market trends, pricing benchmarks, and fair rates for goods and services.
  • Manage the national supplier base, encompassing onboarding, selection, negotiations, and performance management.
  • Analyze bids and quotes from suppliers, negotiate service agreements and contracts, ensuring favorable terms for CAPREIT.
  • Develop and implement procurement team performance plans, succession strategies, and development initiatives as appropriate.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all procurement-related inquiries, training, policy interpretation, and procedure alignment across departments.
