Position Title: Pediatric Speech Therapist - 16 MONTH CONTRACT
Reporting To: Director of Child and Family Services
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend shifts
Compensation: $39.05/hr. - $43.00/hr.
Location: Ancaster, ON. The primary work location will be communicated upon hiring, with travel required within the community to various service sites.
Role Overview: The Pediatric Speech Therapist is responsible for delivering clinical services, including assessment, treatment, and consultation, to children who qualify for speech and language interventions, along with their families. Services will be provided in both clinic and community settings, including virtual options. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, facilitating parent-mediated and individual/group interventions, and offering community consultations. The role also encompasses case management duties, ensuring children are referred to suitable service systems when necessary. Additionally, the Pediatric Speech Therapist will engage in community outreach and education initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Conduct Early Words Regional Access Evaluations (RAE)
- Manage cases and provide treatment recommendations for children within the Early Words system
- Facilitate referrals to other specialists as needed
- Collaborate with educational and health partners to enhance service delivery
- Consult with early childhood educators and resource consultants
- Participate in community identification clinics
- Deliver parent-focused intervention programs
- Supervise and assign tasks to Communicative Disorders Assistants
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to electronic health record protocols
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in accordance with relevant guidelines
Administrative Duties:
- Adhere to operational guidelines for the Early Words system
- Contribute to the development of service delivery protocols
- Act as a resource for staff and the public regarding preschool speech and language services
- Participate in relevant committees as assigned
- Assist in compiling statistical reports for program evaluation
Community Engagement:
- Participate in community education initiatives regarding speech and language development
- Conduct site visits to early learning centers to promote awareness of available services
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists (CASLPO)
- Preferred certification in Hanen programs
- Strong assessment and intervention capabilities
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of community resources and early childhood development
- Experience in community-based service delivery
- Flexibility to work evenings as required
- Professional liability insurance
- Access to reliable transportation
