Position Overview: The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct emergency repairs, perform preventive maintenance, and support continuous improvement projects within the facility. As a certified electrician, you will work under the guidance of the Maintenance Team Lead to ensure that all processing, filling, packaging, and facility-related equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems across various plant areas, utilizing your expertise in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Assist in the installation of new machinery and processing equipment, ensuring compliance with performance standards post-installation.
- Adjust and modify controls for manufacturing and processing equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement projects, documenting issues, solutions, and programming changes for knowledge sharing within the maintenance and engineering teams.
- Execute new installations, adhering to local, provincial, and national electrical codes.
- Provide training and support to production staff to help them meet production goals effectively.
- Work with the Maintenance Planner to develop and refine Planned Maintenance Programs for optimal equipment performance.
- Source and requisition electronic and electrical components as needed, while managing spare parts inventory for efficient operations.
- Prepare material lists and perform job costing for projects.
- Support fellow maintenance personnel and be available for on-call duties as required.
- Adapt to shift assignments and provide coverage as necessary.
- Utilize communication networks to offer remote assistance to plant operations.
- Engage in ongoing training to maintain and enhance technical skills relevant to the electrical trade.
- Ensure accurate tracking of time spent on tasks using the work order system.
- Prioritize safety in all tasks, being mindful of potential hazards to personnel and visitors.
- Assist Engineering with capital and expense projects as needed.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment, supporting colleagues in achieving departmental objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Required Qualifications:
- Electrician license- 442A (preferred) or 309A.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven leadership and strategic planning abilities.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the packaged goods sector, with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the Rockwell Automation platform is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of various software applications, including Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel, SAP, RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, RSLinx, RSNetWorx, Ultraware, Endress+Hauser DeviceCare, Cognex In-Sight Explorer, and Keyence IV Navigator.
