Key Responsibilities- Installation and Maintenance: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
- Prepare Tenders and Quotations: Develop and submit detailed proposals for plumbing projects, including estimates of costs and materials.
- Locate and Mark Positions: Identify and mark the positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
- Cut and Join Pipes: Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, and join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
- Schedule Personnel and Equipment: Plan and coordinate the use of personnel, tools, and equipment for plumbing projects.
- Test Pipes for Leaks: Use air and water pressure gauges to test pipes for leaks and ensure they are functioning properly.
- Determine Piping System Requirements: Assess the requirements for piping systems, including pipe sizing and material selection.
- Supervise Other Workers: Oversee and direct the work of other plumbers and technicians.
- Estimate Costs and Materials: Develop and manage budgets for plumbing projects, including estimates of costs and materials.
- Operate Computer Software: Use computer-aided design (CAD) and other software systems to design and plan plumbing projects.
- Measure, Cut, and Bend Pipes: Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required shape and size.
- Work Setting: Work in various locations, including industrial, residential, and other settings.
- Work Conditions: Work in physically demanding environments, including bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
- Workload: Manage a large workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Security Clearance: Possess basic security clearance.
- Education: Hold a certificate or diploma in plumbing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Have at least 1 year of experience in plumbing, with a focus on installation and maintenance.
- Language: Fluency in English is required.
- Work Hours: Work 37.5 hours per week.
