Industrial Maintenance Technician

Position Overview: The primary focus of this role is to ensure the optimal performance of machinery through emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement projects. As a certified millwright, you will work under the guidance of the Maintenance Team Lead to maintain all processing, filling, and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and rectify issues with machinery and equipment, assisting in the installation of new processing and packaging systems. Post-installation, verify that equipment meets performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives, documenting issues, findings, and solutions to share with the maintenance and engineering teams.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff and apprentices, aiding machine operators in achieving production targets while ensuring process control.
- Work alongside the Maintenance Planner to develop and refine Planned Maintenance Programs, ensuring the reliable and cost-effective operation of all relevant equipment.
- Order necessary materials and components to sustain machinery, helping to determine optimal spare parts inventory levels.
- Create job material lists and conduct job costing related to materials and labor.
- Assist and collaborate with various resources assigned to projects throughout the facility, and be available for call-ins as needed.
- Fulfill shift assignments as required, providing coverage when necessary.
- Participate in training sessions to maintain and enhance technical skills relevant to the mechanical trade and equipment in use.
- Utilize the work order system to accurately log time spent on tasks against appropriate cost centers.
- Conduct all work in a safe manner, being mindful of potential hazards to production personnel, and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
- Support engineering efforts as needed with capital and expense projects.
- Assist maintenance pipefitters with the installation and repair of various process pumps.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment, helping colleagues achieve departmental objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a college diploma in a relevant field.
- Possession of an Industrial Millwright license.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven leadership and strategic planning abilities.
- Experience in manufacturing, ideally with 2-3 years in the packaged goods sector.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
