Job Summary:

The Geotechnical Driller Assistant will provide support to the Senior Geotechnical Driller in the deployment of drill rigs, transportation of equipment, and logging of information from the job site during drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Driller in leading drilling operations, handling drill pipe, mixing drill mud, and handling casing and other equipment.
  • Support the mobilization of drilling rigs and/or cone trucks for jobs as directed, loading drill pipe, mud, and equipment.
  • Perform labor-intensive projects assigned by the Project Coordinator/Project Manager, including physical tasks.
  • Monitor the performance of all equipment to identify maintenance and repair needs.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work area as directed.
  • Complete all required paperwork as directed.
  • Attend all safety meetings and comply with both company and client safety standards and programs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment, including equipment and job site areas.
  • Turn in all required paperwork to the office on a daily basis.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities by Company safety rules and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
  • Experience working around drilling and heavy equipment.
  • Sufficient knowledge of geotechnical drilling techniques to be responsible for an entire project.
  • Availability for drilling projects that require both in-state and out-of-state travel and overnight visits.
  • CDL A License (an asset).
  • Geotechnical Drilling Experience - Soils Augers, Wet Rotary and Wireline Coring.
  • Familiar with and following DOT and IFTA regulations.
  • Must have a current driver's license with a record in accordance with Company and DOT policies, class A license is highly preferred but not required.
  • TWIC card.
  • ISTC Basic Plus.
  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification.
  • Previous drilling experience is a requirement.
  • Upon agreed probation period, employer will assist employee in obtaining required safety training and tickets for each project they work on. A list of training required will be provided to the employee and must be completed within agreed upon timeline. These courses may include but not limited to: H2s, OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, Confined space, API 1169.
