Position Overview
The Practical Nursing Specialist is tasked with delivering professional nursing services to assigned patients. This role encompasses independent nursing practices, administering prescribed medical treatments, and collaborating effectively within the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and discharge processes. The Specialist is expected to embody the vision, values, and objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medicine-High Observation Unit.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in patient discharge planning and education.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Relevant experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program is required.
- Certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration is necessary.
- Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba is mandatory.
- Current CPR certification in accordance with organizational policies is required.
- Knowledge of the standards and ethics set forth by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba.
- Familiarity with relevant healthcare legislation and protocols.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively.
- Capacity to prioritize patient care and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software applications.
- The role requires moderate to heavy physical effort.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and weekends may be necessary.
